The 30 Day Leadership Challenge presented by Denise Boudreau

ACHCA Member: $150 | Non-Member: $200

Leaders play a key role in influencing team members towards positive outcomes! Team members want to be encouraged by leaders who create an environment where employees thrive instead of survive. Sadly, often leaders are not equipped with all the skills they need to positively influence team members.

This customized workshop will focus on giving the leaders of ACHCA the motivation and knowledge they need to support your desired culture. Attendees will reflect on their personal leadership abilities and will leave the workshop with an understanding of the five leadership practices that are proven to create exemplary leaders.

The session will be based on Kouzes and Posner's significant research regarding the 30 behaviors that make for an exemplary leader. The good news? After almost 40 years of research it's been shown that, as long as someone is willing, these 30 behaviors can be learned if they don't come naturally!

To encourage sustainability after this session, we suggest that leaders discuss the five leadership principles during formal and informal conversations with their team. See below for what happens after the workshop to reinforce and make the learnings really stick.

Participants will learn:

  • The five principles of exemplary leaders that research shows can be practiced and learned.
  • How simple, daily practices, can support exemplary leaders.
  • To identify behaviors that support and demonstrate the five principles on a daily basis.

The Five Principles of the 30-Day Leadership Challenge:

Modeling the Way Credibility is the foundation of leadership. Leaders will reconnect with their personal values and discover the power of shared values. Exemplary leaders engage others in a common goal while staying true to their personal values. How to do it gracefully is a skill that can be learned, we’ll explore it together here.

Inspiring with a Shared Vision What dream do you hold dear for your organization and how can you enlist others to help you realize that dream? Leaders passionately believe they can achieve great results, yet that passion can’t reside in one person alone! Exemplary leaders can make passion contagious in an organization. We’ll explore how to make that inspired mindset more than a just a dream.

Challenging the Process Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Exemplary leaders know that challenge brings great opportunity. Breaking the status quo and taking the road less traveled requires a resilient leader. We’ll delve into the great potential in adversity, taking risks and learning from your mistakes and how to be the type of leader that welcomes a good challenge.

Empowering Others to Act Leaders enable others to act by fostering collaboration and strengthening individuals. Exemplary leaders use “we” exponentially more than they use “I”. You will learn the secrets as to how to influence people to come together in a way that makes them want to get involved and use their strengths. In the process, they will feel important and appreciated, which is what they crave. It’s a win win!

Encourage the Heart In senior living there is no shortage of heartwarming stories, acts of kindness and opportunities for the best in humanity to shine. The majority of corporate America can’t boast as much heart as senior living can! Exemplary leaders build on this theme and celebrate the beauty of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Here, we’ll explore the benefits of building a strong, values-based community that’s centered around the heart.

After the Workshop

Participants will take home a 30-Day Leadership Challenge workbook that will support them to put all that they learned into action simply by making one small change every day. One small change every day, one day at a time, equals an invaluable and transformative leadership experience. Team members will notice the change in the leaders who attend this workshop. The leader will also feel different … refreshed, reinvigorated, refocused, recommitted, recharged. This fresh approach is exactly what’s needed in senior living.
